Job Description

Senior Chemist –Project Management – Chromatography

·Contribute to the overall success of the Analytical Sciences Team that supports the testing of client samples using chromatographic techniques such as LC, LCMS, GC, GCMS, and IC.  Lead special projects such as method transfer and method optimization by working closely with client method developers and bench chemists. 

·Perform advanced troubleshooting, instrument calibration, maintenance, recognize errors, identify root causes, and maintain excellent working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation. 

·Carry out routine LC, LCMS, GC, GCMS, and/or IC methods in an analytical production laboratory primarily during times of peak volume.  Serve as subject matter expert on assigned methods.

·Mentor and train junior scientists

·Carry out research and literature review, and liaison with client method development team on development, validation, optimization, and transfer of new methods

·Meet all quality and productivity metrics

·Apply the highest quality standard in all areas of responsibility; maintain ISO 17025 quality standards and accreditation for the laboratory.

·Review data, data notebooks, logbooks, and reports to ensure highest quality

·Learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, and follow WIs and SOPs as written

. Demonstrate strong client service skills

·Proactively plan and maximize productivity

·Demonstrate strong teamwork and collaboration

·Implement operational improvements

. Support and promote company policies and procedures

Qualifications

·Minimum of 8 years of relevant, applicable laboratory experience

·4-year degree in chemistry or related scientific discipline required

·Advanced degree (MS or PhD) preferred. 

·In-depth experience with chromatography instrumentation (LC, LCMS, GC, GCMS, and/or IC)

·Experience working within an established quality system (ISO 17025 preferred)

·Understanding of production laboratory operations

·Experience in method development, instrument troubleshooting, method improvements, process improvements, and training of junior scientists

·Detailed-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.

·Strong written, verbal and presentation skills along with demonstrated ability to collaborate with others.

·Strong computer, client service, scientific, and organizational skills

·Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude

·Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies

·Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
