Summary of Duties:
Perform multiple skilled duties in relation to the maintenance of 75 acres of institution grounds and landscapes and 35 miles of sidewalks. Coordinate and work with other trades and crafts in support of new or remodel construction. Lead apprentices or helpers as assigned. Duties include sprinkler installation and maintenance, snow removal, improvement projects, and general cleanup. Operate motor vehicles and grounds equipment as needed.

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary: $3,417 to $4,542 | Range 38 (Steps A-M) | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
High school or equivalent and at least two (2) years experience working with youth, gardening, or in grounds maintenance; OR equivalent education/experience.
Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
Possession of, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire, a current Public Pesticide Applicators license.
Minimum of 1 year experience with repair and maintenance of sprinkler system operations.
Demonstrated experience operating equipment; e.g. skid steer, compact tractor.
Ability to work a flexible schedule when necessary.
Ability to respond to emergencies outside normal business hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience operating power and motorized equipment such as weed trimmers, chain saws, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, power pruners, edgers, small trucks, lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, small front-end loaders and snow blowers.
Ability to clean, service and make repairs to tools and equipment.
