Technology & Systems Department
The Technology & Systems department drives technological innovation for the company and advances the technology strategy to support global growth. This includes IT, Software Development, OT / Automation Systems, and business process improvement. At Vantage, we are very hands on. In most cases, we specify, purchase, configure and maintain all networking and server hardware. We also work closely with partner VARs to learn about the latest technology changes, so we can make informed purchase decisions. The Technology & Systems department participates in designing each of our new data center building’s networking infrastructure, including but not limited to diverse pathways connecting to carriers, meet-me room hosting (rack, cabs, ladders, cross connect panels…), wireless AP coverage, etc.
We rely on extreme collaboration with Sales, Construction, Operations and Corporate Functions to drive simplification, establish global standards with continuous improvement and speed to value. We are working to build a reliable, scalable, sustainable, and secure technology roadmap/landscape that enables us to better serve our customers and employees and be the partner of choice. Our focus is on speed to value with financial and execution discipline. We strive to double the good, halve the bad, in half the time.
Position Overview
This role can be based in our US location: Denver, CO.
Vantage is looking for a seasoned, diligent, Principal Network Architect, Global responsible leading and governing the technical design and network architecture for our data centers. This role requires deep technical experience in networking specifically in large scale data center environments. A key responsibility of this position is to engage with multiple teams to formulate robust designs which meet business objectives such a reliability, scale and cost. A collaborative attitude is essential as this role will interact heavily with SMEs from multiple teams with differing opinions and perspectives.
Essential Job Functions
- Technical Design Authority for Vantage network infrastructure globally
- Creation of the following documents: Low Level Design (LLD), High Level Design (HLD), Project Design Document (PDD) and Detailed Design Document (DDD)
- Work closely with peers and SMEs to create network infrastructure designs
- Additional duties as assigned by Management
Duties
- Lead the design and architecture of data center projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical requirements
- Develop and maintain comprehensive design documentation such as LLD/HLD/PDD/DDD
- Review and approve designs to ensure consistency, performance, scalability, and security
- Engage with customers to understand the ‘what’ and ‘why’ to translate them into technical solutions
- Stay abreast of new technologies, continually research and look for opportunities to enhance the network infrastructure
- Collaboratively work with SMEs to robustly validate design and ensure all aspects are considered
- Assist in the specification, ordering, purchasing, asset-tracking, and inventory of network-related equipment/supplies/software
- Challenge, report and advance as necessary to resolve any issues affecting the availability, security or integrity of the network infrastructure
- Work closely with cybersecurity to ensure we are following policies and standard methodologies to secure and harden the network
- Functions of this position are to be performed in a company-designated office or field location
- Understand and align with the company’s Acceptable Use Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards, if applicable
Job Requirements
- 20+ years of network engineering experience with at least 10 years as a Network Architect/Technical Design Authority for multi-site global networks
- Expert level in all aspects of networking such as routing, switching, security (firewall) and IT/OT
- Experience working within a data center environment using multiple vendors is crucial
- Demonstrable CCIE/JNCIE level or higher experience is re
