What we need
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Director, Tax North America to join our company at our headquarters. The ideal candidate for the North America Leader position will create strong relationships among Senior Leadership and C-Suite, Controllership, Finance, Investor Relations, Legal, and other operational stakeholders. You will be required to have in-depth knowledge of the business and disseminate the tax impacts and consequences associated with North American tax requirements. You will be leading the compliance with North America tax functions. You will be responsible for managing all tax requirements for external reporting. You will report to the VP Controller & Chief Accounting Officer.

The Accounting team is part of the finance organization which is a critical financial business partner for our cross-functional business partners. Functions include General Accounting, Accounts Payable & Receivable, Internal Audit, FP&A.
What you’ll do
Establishment of the North America Tax Function
Initial establishment of a North America tax function (outsourced today) that would encompass the below activities. Further, you will establish and develop a team and implement the required software. Experience with SAP preferred.
US GAAP Tax Compliance and Reporting
Responsible for the consolidated tax provision, quarterly filings, and other tax-related financial statements in compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Own tax technical accounting topics such as: FIN 48 analysis, valuation allowances, Up-C structure compliance, and Tax Receivable Agreement
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including finance, accounting, and legal teams, to gather necessary financial data and ensure accurate tax reporting
Provide tax input and support the quarterly and annual SEC reporting process; own external 10Q/K footnotes and related disclosure checklist review; assist with tax inputs for Non-GAAP Financial Measures
Manage the consolidation and reconciliation of tax-related data to ensure accurate and timely reporting
Coordinate with external tax advisors and consultants, as needed, to leverage their expertise and ensure compliance with tax regulations
Stay up to date with changes in tax laws and regulations, assess their impact on the organization's tax reporting, and communicate relevant updates to internal stakeholders
Manage external auditor relationship for US GAAP audit of income taxes
Assist with income tax accounting analysis and related disclosures for potential acquisitions or divestitures
Provide guidance and support to other departments on tax-related matters, including training and development initiatives
Drive and be involved in global projects; interact with cross-functional teams within the organization
Additional tax and close related tasks as needed, such as forecasting an effective tax rate
Execute SOX Internal Controls framework for the domestic tax function, including oversight of all tax account reconciliations
North America Tax Compliance
Lead US domestic tax compliance
Lead existing Canadian entity tax compliance
Lead future Mexico tax compliance
Review and sometimes prepare/coordinate preparation with service providers the US federal and state income and franchise tax returns. Review sales & use tax and property tax returns. Review Canada and Mexico tax returns and filings. Manage the quarterly deliverables
Special projects and the go-to expert in US & Canada tax issues
Lead domestic tax transformation initiatives to improve consistency, accuracy, and efficiency and reduce overall operating costs. On an ongoing basis, develop and improve processes.
Oversee domestic, Canada and Mexico tax audits
Ability to travel up to 10%
What you’ll need
Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. Advanced degree and professional certifications (CPA or similar) are highly desirable
Minimum 15 years’ accounting experience, including 10 years’ relevant experience in tax, preferably in a leadership role within a multinational corporation or public accounting
