The Assistant Director, Alumni Regional Engagement will be charged with expanding engagement opportunities with a special focus on regional volunteers and programming. This includes, but is not limited to; overseeing the engagement strategy for alumni regional groups including volunteer recruitment, training and management, creating and implementing programs and events, and conducting and reporting alumni market research. This position is critical to advance the current capital campaign by engaging alumni where they are and building the donor pipeline.
Full Job Description:
Essential Responsibilities:
- Support regional events, specifically larger events such as the semi-annual New York and Los Angeles regional events, including communication efforts and event page management, social media management, and follow up.
- Support the larger international event strategy where university leadership attends.
- Manage the East Bay, Peninsula Silicon Valley and Sacramento alumni networks.
- Ownership over any one-off regional "event in a box" events or other non-chapter events.
- Serve as the primary representative for Day of the Dons, managing all DOTD regional events.
- Other alumni programming as needed to support the goals of the unit and the Development Division, including but not limited to, Alumni & Family Weekend, Reunions, and Day of the Dons.
- Produce reports for management that benchmarks alumni engagement metrics on a quarterly and yearly basis; analyze and make recommendations for improvement. Establish project timelines and oversee budgets; report key milestones and communicate across university.
- Identify and anticipate new areas for growth around regional programming to support the work of the university.
- Develop and execute an annual micro-fundraising goal for each group and garner 100% giving participation from all board members.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in a relative area of study
- Three years of experience in event planning, volunteer management, and/or project management.
- Additional Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse group of alumni, faculty and staff.
- Track record in marketing/outreach to diverse demographic groups including generational and cultural constituents.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to demonstrate discretion, diplomacy and maintain enthusiasm.
- Project management expertise and the ability to prioritize and manage overlapping and competing deadlines
- Team orientated and comfortable with change; a strong habit of collaborating but also capable of working independently on projects with minimal supervision
- Professional demeanor that establishes credibility quickly and inspires positive relationships.
- Ability to travel, and work evenings and weekends.
Additional Skills, Knowledge & Abilities needed for position
- An understanding of and appreciation for a Jesuit education is preferred
