About the role

Site Leader

The Site Leader is responsible for overall leadership and direction for employees at the site.  This position reports directly to the Manufacturing Director and has 5 direct reports (site size - 15).  The Site Leader:

  • Establishes working relationships with employees at all levels of the Odorants organization (globally)
  • Establishes a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper and effective QC procedures for blending operation and finished goods
  • Responsible for developing and implementing a proper safety program at site for all facets of operations
  • Ensures proper management of preventative maintenance budget and capital projects for the site
  • Improves processes in the customer service and all system aspects of the operation to gain efficiencies and improve reliability, both internally and externally.  Works closely with the NA Odorants team to ensure monthly receivables meet working capital targets

Key Activities & Responsibilities

Safety and Environment

  • Demonstrates commitment to HES matters through maintaining high visibility in the plant and direct involvement with employees ensuring compliance with plant policies and procedures.
  • Ensures full compliance with all applicable laws (PSM, RPM, etc.), regulatory requirements, and corporate policies (AIMS) of site and fleet activities

Operations

  • Accountable for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the site as well as fleet operations on and off site
  • Responsible for the oversight of Operations Manager for the management of:
    • Raw material and finished goods inventory to the set production schedule and working capital budgets, fleet equipment, shipping, deliveries and maintenance activities on and off site
  • Ensure that all Spotleak blends and products meet all required quality control parameters
  • Ensure that adequate preventative maintenance and mechanical inspection schedules are adhered to.  Identify improvement opportunities and implement actions necessary to improve efficiency and lower operation costs.

Financial

  • Preparation for the annual budget including 5-year planning for maintenance budget

Capital Projects

  • Develop annual capital budget and projects associated with the budget
  • Supervise plant engineer to ensure all projects' targets are achieved

Business Development

  • Implements commercial and/or strategic initiatives supporting the business development of Odor Tech in the North American marketplace
  • Actively participates in the NA Odorants Business team and work closely with the NA Odorants Market Manager and Global Odorants Business Manager or specifically identified commercial and/or strategic initiatives to drive the success of the Odorants business

Required Education/Qualifications/Work Experience

  • BS in Business Management or Engineering required
  • Industrial/manufacturing background required, with 7-10 years of plant operations experience, preferably in the chemical and/or odorants industry
  • Demonstrated experience in people leadership
  • Demonstrated experience in the ability to learn system processes, preferably SAP experience
  • High capability to work within matrix organization
  • Strong leadership skills with a strong ability to manage up in the organization
  • Very organized and conceptual
  • Excellent evaluator of talent with strong ability and willingness to develop talent
