Job Title: Machinist
SUMMARY: Responsible for producing precision parts by setting up, and operating CNC machines, as well as maintaining quality standards and following safety protocols.
WAGE TYPE: Hourly
FLSA Exemption: Non-exempt

- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD designs to determine machining operations.
- Set up and calibrate a variety of machines, including CNC mills, lathes, and grinders, ensuring proper tooling and alignment.
- Conduct in-process inspections using precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, and CMMs) to ensure parts meet tight tolerances.
- Optimize machine operations by adjusting feeds, speeds, and tooling for maximum efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with machining processes, equipment, or programming.
- Maintain equipment through routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to refine processes and address production challenges.
- Adhere to and promote workplace safety standards, including PPE usage and proper handling of hazardous materials.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE:
- Reports to: Team Leader
QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted for the expected levels of education and experience required.
Education and/or Experience:
- Expected: High School Diploma or GED with technical training in machining or a related field.
- Preferred: Certification in CNC machining from a recognized institution or related experience.
Communication Skills:
- Must be able to read, write, and comprehend the English language.
- Ability to interpret technical documents and communicate effectively with team members.
Other Skills:
- Strong mathematical skills, including geometry and trigonometry, for calculating dimensions and tolerances.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and basic computer skills.
- Ability to operate a variety of manual and CNC equipment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and handle materials up to 75 lbs.
- Frequent standing, bending, and reaching during machining operations.
- Comfortable working in a noisy, dusty, and high-temperature environment.
