We’re building digital services that make everyday in-store shopping smoother for both our staff and our customers. In the next few years, we’ll be putting a big focus on improving self-service experiences, and to make it happen, we are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Sales Flow team. 

 

The goal of Sales Flow team is to create a scalable suite of event-driven data services for SOK's in-Store Operations, and potentially later for the entire S group. The team is developing a reference architecture for a set of operational data services where reliability and developer experience are key elements. From a business perspective, the first components of Sales Flow will serve to increase self-service transactions in the area of in-Store Operations, as well as our S-ostoslista and Fraud Control teams. 

 

In the future, the services to be developed will be built as platform products that are cost-effective, configurable for users, and easy to deploy. The team's core values include technically sustainable and scalable development, but we also strive to continuously deliver business value by releasing the first versions of services for self-service needs. 

 

The Sales Flow team started its operations in 2025, and the first component to be implemented is the Product Updates service, which provides real-time updates on product, assortment, and price information. On a fast schedule, we will also develop other services that renew the entire system landscape enabling the customer's purchase journey in the store. 

  

Your responsibilities and requirements 

This role requires a strong understanding of development, processes and ability to take those forward in the wanted direction. We are looking for a professional who dares to bring their own thoughts and suggestions to the team, which already includes experienced experts. You can be involved in designing technical architecture, but your role is also very hands-on. 

 

We are creating a completely new architecture and have many discussions around those topics. We hope that you can handle the fact that not everything has ready-made answers, but you are ready to search for them together with the team. Finnish language skills are not mandatory for this position; however, you may occasionally collaborate with stakeholders in different operational areas where Finnish is commonly used as the working language.
