Laboratory Processor - Full time - Day shift

Overview: This role supports laboratory operations by providing administrative, clerical, and minor clinical services. The position ensures accurate processing of inpatient and outpatient specimens for quality testing and results.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform clerical and administrative duties for patients, staff, and clients

• Act as a resource and advocate for patients regarding specimen information

• Handle data entry, scanning, and recordkeeping of patient files

• Notify appropriate parties of critical lab values and manage failed faxes

• Receive and verify specimens from internal and external sources

• Prepare specimens: centrifuge, aliquot, measure, store, and package for testing

• Follow lab procedures for specimen handling and third-party lab shipments

• Maintain high standards of accuracy and attention to detail

• Communicate clearly and appropriately with various stakeholders

• Work independently and make decisions in the absence of supervisors

• Apply technical skills and customer service in daily lab operations

• Adhere to safety protocols and promote a safe work environment

• Participate in process improvement initiatives

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Training as a medical assistant or in medical coding is preferred

• Experience: Prior experience in a lab or medical office setting is preferred

• Skills: Manual dexterity, strong communication, and ability to complete on-the-job training during the probationary period
