Staff Accountant
About the Role
The Staff Accountant will be primarily responsible for general accounting and financial operations responsibilities of the Accounting Team. The ideal candidate will have a solid accounting background, strong analytical, detail-oriented, problem-solving skills, and ideally a good understanding of SaaS business. The successful candidate will be involved in the timely and accurate processing of the monthly close processes. Exceptional communication and organizational skills are must-haves in order to succeed in this role.

Staff Accountant
About the Role
The Staff Accountant will be primarily responsible for general accounting and financial operations responsibilities of the Accounting Team. The ideal candidate will have a solid accounting background, strong analytical, detail-oriented, problem-solving skills, and ideally a good understanding of SaaS business. The successful candidate will be involved in the timely and accurate processing of the monthly close processes. Exceptional communication and organizational skills are must-haves in order to succeed in this role.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Owning various monthly close processes
- Performing the processing and recording of accounts payable, coding invoices, and ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Reconciling bank and credit card accounts monthly, for accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Being responsible for day-to-day management of GL functions, preparing journal entries and monthly reconciliations, such as cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, etc
- Reviewing and reconciling company credit cards and expense reimbursements, including collaborating across departments to obtain necessary support.
- Assisting in monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close activities.
- Maintaining and updating vendor files, ensuring all information is accurate and up-to-date, including W-9s and contracts.
- Preparing yearly 1099 tax returns to applicable vendors.
- Collaborating with internal departments to obtain necessary approvals and resolve any payment-related issues.
- Supporting the implementation of process improvements and automation initiatives.
- Assisting with annual audit preparation, various tax filings, and other compliance items.
- Assisting with other ad-hoc projects, as necessary
Requirements:
- Excellent communication (Verbal and written)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Minimum one year of accounting experience
- Experience with an ERP system a plus (such as NetSuite), A/P systems, and expense management software experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Detail-oriented and organized, and the ability to work within tight deadlines to ensure the timely completion of the monthly close process
- Professional Attributes/Work Ethics: Collaborative, self-motivated, and accountable,
- Willingness to “roll up the sleeves” and dig hard for the right answers
Bonus:
- Passionate about the outdoors
- Prior experience working at a startup
- Experience in public accounting, CPA/CA
- Proven ability to quickly learn new technology and processes
