Job Description

X-energy, LLC is seeking experienced professionals to join our Engineering team in the role of Manager, Nuclear Fuel System Engineering This position manages the group responsible for performing systems engineering, analysis, design, and development of the Xe-100 nuclear fuel system across all projects and programs. This includes directing the work of individual contributors on the team, managing the resource and organizational needs of the systems engineering team, and assisting with the analysis of systems, structures, and components for the Xe-100 nuclear fuel system.


 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the execution of the systems engineering design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound, repeatable systems engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program / project requirements.
  • Manage the utilization of engineering resources across multiple projects and ensures qualified engineers are performing assigned work.
  • Manage design cycle sprints and provide technical direction to ensure the convergence of efforts of systems engineering team members, partners, and suppliers to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality engineering work products are on schedule and within budget as defined by the Project leadership.
  • Assess and document design requirements, including the development of technical specifications; enter and organize requirements via requirements management tools/software.
  • Manage systems engineering staff by ensuring staff are meeting expectations and promoting staff professional development.
  • Develop documentation to capture the flow-down of high-level requirements to lower levels of assembly and define the contents, format, and approach to develop System, Subsystem, and Component System Design Description documentation.
  • Provide licensing support and regulatory interaction as the System Manager.
  • Influence the development of strategy, methodology and technical tools for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and policy formulation.
  • Interpret internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, tools, or services.
  • Use high level of judgement to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operations, product management, technology, or engineering.
  • Assess quality of information given and asks pertinent questions to stakeholders.
  • Offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and can construct and provide recommendations.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary engineering team to create the next generation nuclear fuel.
  • Perform work in accordance with design control procedures, ensuring thorough documentation of work, facilitation of internal and external design reviews, and control of product design configuration data.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering, material science engineering, mechanical engineering, or related discipline from an accredited university or college.
  • Typically, ten plus years of professional experience in engineering after completion of undergraduate study. Graduate degrees typically count as two plus years of experience.
  • Experience estimating time and resources needed to execute engineering activities.
  • Experience working under a nuclear quality assurance program.
  • Knowledge in the following areas:
    • Systems engineering processes.
    • Neutron transport.
    • Application of fuel design and performance management codes and analysis.
    • Advance nuclear fuel regulatory framework.
    • Material
