The Senior Manager, Software Engineering Xometry EU will lead the engineering organization across Europe and serve as one of the most senior technology leaders in the region. Reporting to the CTO, International, this leader will be accountable for building, scaling, and maturing high-performing software engineering teams across EU hubs — while ensuring deep alignment with global product, platform, and AI initiatives.
This is a high-visibility role ideal for an engineering executive who has led large teams of 50-100 engineers and operated at entry/mid-executive level in large tech-first companies (e.g., Amazon, Zalando, Google, Meta) or senior-executive level in mid-sized tech-driven organizations (e.g. HelloFresh, Etsy, Delivery Hero).
The role requires someone who can blend technical excellence, operational rigor, people leadership, and strong business orientation — and can thrive in a global, distributed, multi-time-zone environment spanning the US, Europe, China, India, and Turkey.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership & Execution
- Lead and scale the Xometry EU engineering organization, including platform, customer-facing, and supplier-facing domains.
- Drive engineering execution for all EU/TR/UK/IN/SG market initiatives, ensuring predictable delivery, high quality, and strong alignment with product counterparts.
- Build and evolve engineering practices around reliability, testing, architecture, on-call, observability, and operational excellence.
Talent & Organization
- Attract and retain top-tier engineering talent from leading global tech companies and strong EU tech ecosystems.
- Build a strong culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement across EU engineering teams.
- Mentor and develop engineering managers, senior ICs, and future leaders.
Architecture & Technology Strategy
- Partner with global platform and architecture leaders to evolve the technical foundation of Xometry’s marketplace, quoting pipeline, supply chain tooling, and AI/automation systems.
- Ensure EU teams contribute to global architectures while also solving for region-specific scale, compliance, and capability needs.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Work closely with regional product, UX, data, and operations leaders to deliver EU business outcomes.
- Foster strong collaboration with US, China, India, and Turkey engineering teams to ensure consistent global execution.
- Represent EU engineering in executive forums across Xometry.
Operational Rigor
- Drive engineering operational excellence including SLAs, incident response, run cost optimization, CI/CD maturity, and reliability improvements.
- Establish and manage EU-specific engineering KPIs, productivity metrics, and quality measures.
Experience & Qualifications
- Established Senior-Manager+ level engineering experience in a large-scale technology-first company (e.g., Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Zalando, Spotify), or Director+ level in a mid-sized tech organization (e.g., Etsy, HelloFresh, Deliveroo).
- Deep familiarity with engineering teams anchored in Munich, including those with strong Russian talent bases; Russian fluency strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success managing engineering teams of 50–150+, including distributed teams and multi-location engineering hubs.
- Deep experience in modern software engineering: cloud-native architectures, microservices, data-intensive systems, distributed systems, CI/CD, reliability engineering.
- Strong track record of building and maturing engineering organizations, including hiring, coaching, and developing engineering managers and senior engineers.
- Experience working in product-led environments with tight engineering-product collaboration.
- Evidence of operating in global companies with teams spread across multiple geographies and cultures.
- Strong problem-solving orientation with the ability to connect engineering decisions to business outcomes.
