A Day in the Life
The Technical Services Specialist provides expert technical and clinical support for Medtronic’s Structural Heart, Cardiac Surgery, Vascular, Coronary, and Renal Denervation (RDN) portfolios. This role serves as a trusted resource to physicians, healthcare professionals, and internal Medtronic partners by delivering consultation related to cardiovascular devices, procedural workflows, and therapy applications.
You will collaborate closely with Medtronic Field teams, Legal, Marketing, Education, Research & Development, Quality Assurance, and other internal stakeholders to support safe and effective use of therapies across the continuum of cardiovascular care.
Areas of consultation may include:
- Structural heart, Vascular, Coronary, and RDN implantable devices and delivery systems
- Cardiac surgery products, procedural tools, and associated technologies
- Therapy concepts, indications, contraindications, and procedural considerations
- Device troubleshooting, performance questions, and product usage guidance
- Review and interpretation of procedural data, imaging, or diagnostics, as applicable
Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Provide direct phone-based technical consultation to healthcare professionals and Medtronic field personnel supporting Structural Heart, Cardiac Surgery, Vascular, Coronary, and Renal Denervation (RDN) products.
- Deliver accurate, timely, and customer-focused support in alignment with clinical, regulatory, and quality requirements.
- Participate in a shared coverage model that supports extended hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
- Document and report all customer interactions, technical inquiries, and product-related concerns in approved technical and quality systems.
- Maintain a high level of product, procedural, and therapy knowledge through continuous training, workshops, and self-directed learning.
- Stay current on evolving cardiovascular technologies, surgical techniques, and clinical practices through Medtronic and industry resources.
- Partner cross-functionally with Field teams, R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Legal, and Marketing to resolve issues and support continuous improvement.
- Utilize required technology and systems to support job responsibilities, including computer systems, mobile devices, and standard business applications.
- Actively participate in departmental initiatives, process improvements, and team-based activities.
Work Schedule
- Standard schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m. CST
- Some evening and weekend coverage required as part of a shared on-call rotation
Qualifications
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical, technical, or customer-facing experience, or an advanced degree with 0 years of experience
Nice to Have
- 4+ years of experience supporting Structural Heart, Cardiac Surgery, Vascular, Coronary, and Renal Denervation (RDN) products in a clinical, field, or technical support role.
- Experience with catheter-based structural heart or coronary interventions and/or cardiac surgical procedures
- Familiarity with cardiovascular imaging modalities and procedural workflows
- Knowledge of medical device regulations and quality systems (e.g., FDA, GMP, MDR)
- Experience working in a regulated medical device or healthcare environment
- Strong understanding of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and interventional or surgical therapies
- Demonstrated excellence in customer service and professional communication <
