Job Summary:
The role of the Shop Assistant will be to assist the Waterjet Manager and Waterjet Operators with day-to-day tasks while learning the basics of manufacturing including how to operate machinery. Prepping equipment and workstations, assisting with shipping, and receiving, cleaning workstations, unloading scrap bins and other tasks as assigned.

Job Summary:
The role of the Shop Assistant will be to assist the Waterjet Manager and Waterjet Operators with day-to-day tasks while learning the basics of manufacturing including how to operate machinery. Prepping equipment and workstations, assisting with shipping, and receiving, cleaning workstations, unloading scrap bins and other tasks as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Clean and maintain equipment as directed
- Drive shop truck as needed
- Operate equipment such as the horizontal saw, cut off saw, disc grinder
- Provides general assistance around the shop, including administrative and technical tasks
- Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on waterjet machines and equipment
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
- Assist with cleaning and preventative maintenance of machines, tools, and workstations
- Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions
- Load and unload delivery trucks
- Perform other duties as assigned
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Basic ability to work with shop tools correctly. (Sockets, wrenches, pliers, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of shop mechanics, mathematics, and measurement
- Familiarity and ability to identify different material types (Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Titanium, etc.)

EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED required
- A minimum of 1 year of manufacturing related work preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to use hands and fingers to operate computers, equipment, hand/power tools, etc. and handle and feel parts of various size
- Ability to bend, kneel and crouch occasionally throughout a shift
- Ability to push, pull or lift 50 lbs. moderately throughout a workday, occasionally 50+lbs with a team lift
