The Director, Financial Planning & Analysis will lead reporting, business intelligence, financial modeling, and forecasting efforts. This role is crucial for driving data-driven decision support, optimizing business operations, and steering strategic financial planning across the institution. The Director will ensure the unit achieves its objectives, equips staff with necessary tools, maintains compliance with all KUMC policies and governmental regulations, and develops both annual and long-term strategic plans. Additionally, the role requires maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry practices in FP&A and fostering productive relationships with other unit leaders to ensure successful collaboration and performance.Job Description:
Job Responsibilities
Partner with leadership to identify and prioritize areas and projects which would benefit from detailed planning and analysis efforts.
Develop financial models and analyses to increase understanding of the economics of current operations, as well as to estimate financial metrics resulting from contemplated future initiatives.
Build, analyze, and present models, forecasts and reports, to provide key metrics and insights to KUMC leadership to guide business decisions and uncover opportunities for financial and business optimization.
Ensure coordination with other areas of KUMC to ensure integration and support of KUMC goals and objectives by collaborating closely with relevant teams (Central Finance, Enterprise Analytics, etc.) to identify, prioritize, and validate the delivery of essential data and reporting requirements, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and operational needs.
Research and evaluate industry best practices and incorporate into analyses as appropriate.
Train and mentor individuals across the institution on the use of centrally available data analysis tools and techniques, and to promote a data-driven culture.
Promote an approach of collaboration, continuous improvement, and service excellence within the organization.
Ensure departmental annual and long term operating plans and budgets are thorough; completed timely and implemented appropriately in partnership with the CBO office.
When appropriate, develop organizational staffing plans and recruit employees with appropriate skills and experience. Ensure future employees are onboarded, trained, supervised, set individual goals, receive annual evaluations.
Maintain personal level of subject matter expertise necessary in FP&A and data analytics to ensure activities align with industry best practices. Continually update skills and knowledge to support the delivery of data-driven financial solutions that optimize organizational performance.
Participate in and lead appropriate committees, task forces and other similar activities assuring optimal resource utilization in alignment with the institution’s mission.
Ensure FP&A team members effectively implement and/or appropriately use electronic systems for data collection, storage, and retrieval to enhance financial analysis and reporting.
Ensure contracts for external services are appropriately obtained and implemented to receive optimal results for KUMC through coordination with appropriate procurement and/or IT offices.

Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Accounting, Finance, Business, or other relevant field. Education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Experience used to substitute education is in addition to any required work experience.
Work Experience:
Five (5) years of experience in either high level accounting, finance, auditor, or IT positions.
Minimum three (3) years of experience managing employees in a professional setting.
