Superintendent, Material Services - BWX Technologies, Inc. - Barberton, Ohio
Job Duties:
Provides materials, equipment, and supplies to all manufacturing shops by directing the receiving, shipping, warehousing, materials crib operations, and distribution services within the Material Services department.
- Responsible for directing and coordinating all activities within the Material Services dept.
- Responsible for the Safety, Quality, Schedule, and Cost associated with assigned cost centers.
- Works to identify improvements across all areas of responsibility and acts for long-term growth and control of expenses.
- Administers all labor relations activities at the shop level while interfacing with union representation and labor relations personnel.
- Maintains facility warehousing and offsite warehousing distribution by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
- Ensures compliance with facility and customer driven quality and traceability requirements
- Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
- Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by enforcing security procedures and protocols.
- Controls inventory levels by ensuring a cycle count program is in place and maintained.
- Maintains physical condition of warehousing and material cribs by planning and implementing new design layouts, inspecting equipment, issuing work orders for repair, and requisitions for replacement.
- Leads/manages all Material Services capital expenditures.
- Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating mitigation tactics where needed to combat overruns.
- Sets team goals in collaboration with Staff Management.
- Manages a staff of salary and hourly employees. 25+ employee.
- Maintains staff by training, coaching, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge in all areas of Material Services.
- Excellent leadership skills, including the abilities to set goals, motivate and manage conflict.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or industrial Management or equivalent experience. Degree is preferred.

8+ years material services management. Preferably in logistic, warehousing, and materials crib management within a manufacturing facility.
- Experience with SAP Warehouse Management (WM) is preferred.

Position requires U.S. Citizenship (with no dual citizenship) and ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation and previous employment reference verifications.
