About the role

Lawrence Memorial Hospital Sleep Medicine is currently seeking a Sleep Center Medical Director to join our dynamic, growing team in Medford, MA.

The Medical Director is responsible for the overall clinical oversight and quality of care delivered at the Sleep Medicine Center. This includes the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of all clinical and administrative operations. Specific responsibilities include:

1.     Clinical Oversight

  • Provide overall supervision of patient care and services offered by the Sleep Medicine Center.

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and continual evaluation of the Sleep Center’s programs and protocols.

2.     Policy and Procedure

  • Review and approve departmental policies and procedures to ensure clinical excellence and regulatory compliance.

3.     Education & Community Awareness

  • Lead physician education initiatives.

  • Support the education and professional development of technical staff.

  • Promote awareness of sleep disorders through internal and external educational efforts.

  • Provide community education on sleep health as needed.

4.     Quality Assurance

  • Manage and report on the Center’s Quality Assurance Program.

  • Review all non-sleep specialist orders for appropriateness.

  • Oversee sleep studies interpreted by non-board-certified sleep physicians.

  • Ensure accuracy and quality in technical data acquisition and scoring.

5.     Marketing and Outreach

  • Review and contribute to marketing materials.

  • Participate in community events to promote the Center and sleep health awareness.

6.     Physician–Staff Liaison

  • Act as a communication bridge between physicians and technical staff.

7.     Clinical Consultation

  • Provide consultations for referred or self-referred patients to the Center.

8.     Polysomnogram Interpretation

  • Review and interpret studies for unassigned patients and those seen in consultation.

9.     Performance Oversight

  • Monitor and guide the clinical and technical performance of all Center personnel.

  • Address and resolve any clinical concerns or issues that arise.

10.  Personnel Oversight

  • Supervise professional and technical staff qualifications, including licensure and certifications.

11.  Protocol Oversight

  • Provide continuous oversight of testing protocols and ensure high-quality standards in testing procedures.

12.  On-Call Support

  • Be available to support overnight staff with clinical questions as needed.

13.  Administrative Coordination

  • Collaborate with the Sleep Center Executive Director to coordinate administrative oversight.

14.  Accreditation & Compliance

  • Stay current with American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) standards.

  • Lead efforts to maintain and achieve AASM accreditation.

  • Communicate regulatory or standards updates to management.

15.  Inspire Program Oversight

  • Provide leadership and full oversight of the Inspire Program, including:

  • a. Patient consultations

  • b. Device activations

  • c. Coordination with ENT services

  • d. Program quality assurance

  • e. Community outreach and program promotion

  • f. Staff training and certification

  • g. Collaboration with Inspire support teams

  • h. Troubleshooting and oversight of advanced device issues

16.  Ethical Standards

  • Ensure all staff adhere to the Code of Medical Ethics and institutional ethical requirements.
