ManTech is looking for a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Linux Systems Administrator to join our team in Arlington, VA.

Responsibilities include, but are not Limited to:

  • Design, deploy, and maintain Linux-based systems and server, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.

  • Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and propose and implement solutions for optimization.

  • Perform regular system maintenance tasks, such as patching, firmware updates, and backups, to ensure systems integrity and availability.

  • Implement and maintain security measures, including access controls, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems, to protect against unauthorized access and security threats.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable and reliable infrastructure solutions to support business needs.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex and network issues, working closely with vendors and other IT teams as necessary.

  • Automate routine tasks and processes using scripting languages, such as Bash or Python, to improve efficiency and productivity.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, sharing knowledge and best practices.

  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in Linux systems administration.

  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to system emergencies outside of regular business hours, ensuring system availability and minimizing downtime.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Additional 6 years can be substituted in lieu of a degree.

  • 5+ years of experience as a Linux Systems Administrator, preferably in a senior or lead role.

  • In-depth knowledge and experience with Linux operating systems, such as CentOS, Ubuntu, or Red Hat.

  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and services, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.

  • Experience with virtualization technologies, such as VMware or KVM, and containerization platforms like Docker or Kubernetes.

  • Proficiency in scripting languages, such as Bash or Python, for automation and task scheduling.

  • Familiarity with configuration management tools, such as Ansible or Puppet, for managing and deploying infrastructure.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification required Security+ CE

  • RHEL certification obtained within 6 months of hire.

  • Must be open to 10% annual travel and possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License.

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Active TS clearance with SCI eligibility.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.

  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.

  • Often positions self to maintain computers in the lab, including under the desks and in the server closet.

  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

  • May be asked to move Audio/Visual or Computer equipment.

For all positions requiring access to technology/software source code that is subject to export control laws, employment with the company is contingent on either verifying U.S.-person status or obtaining any necessary license. The applicant will be required to answer certain questions for export control purposes, and that information will be reviewed by compliance personnel to ensure compliance with federal law. ManTech may choose not to apply for a license for such individuals whose access to export-controlled technology or software source code may require authorization and may decline to proceed with an applicant on that basis alone.
