Responsibilities

We are hiring a Part-time Commerical/Military Diver in San Diego, CA.

 

What you'll do:

 

Support the mission planning, preparation, inspection, and deployment, recovery, burial, un-burial, and the underwater movement of various objects on the ocean floor in various harbor areas, littorals, and shipping lanes. Diving operations are open water and will be conducted off of vessels deployed from shore facilities.  This is a part time position and days will vary weekly.

 

 At the worksite, employees are required to conduct pre-mission, pre-dive, post-dive, post mission inspections, setups / breakdowns and preventative maintenance on all salvage / diving equipment, personal diving gear and outfit, and diving safety equipment.  Candidates will be responsible for initially providing a current approved diving physical, with no restrictions, signed by a certified Diving Medical Physician within the last year, personal diver thermal protection, and items required for diving except for diver life support breathing equipment and buoyancy measures. Mission tasking for on-water operations is assigned at the direction of the customer, dive project manager, and additional salvage / diving training requirements as scheduled. Responsibilities include receiving tasking from the diving supervisors, assist in the mission planning, conducting pre-mission / pre-dive checklists and loadout of diving equipment, rig and onload objects onto the salvage vessels using forklifts and / or crane davits, diving mission execution either as a primary diver, stand-by diver, dive tender, or deckhand, underwater data collection and reporting as directed, conducting post-dive / post-mission checklists, offload diving equipment post operations, rig and offload various recovered objects from the salvage vessels, and various other tasking and training requirements as directed.

  • Conduct open-water scuba diving operations as a Diver, Standby Diver, Diver Tender, Deckhand, and Rigger;
  • Know the routine and emergency diving procedures;
  • Diving operations include moving and recovering heavy objects from the sea floor, underwater and top-side deck rigging, lift-bag operations, and underwater searches and excavations;
  • Report any medical problems or symptoms experienced during or after a dive;
  • Perform small boat operations, crane and forklift operations;
  • Responsible for boat load out and off load of all diving equipment and various other objects and equipment;
  • Cleanliness and organization of salvage / diving locker facility;
  • Refill utilized scuba cylinders daily post diving operations;
  • Maintain personal diving outfit and perform set-up, break down, and cleaning of dive equipment daily.

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or higher.
  • 2-4 years of underwater scuba diving experience as a military or commercially trained diver, or recreational certified scuba divers with documented underwater working experience in open water environments will be considered (Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, or Dive Master);
  • Graduate of a military diver training program or commercial diver training program accredited by the Association of Diving Educators (ACDE);
  • Recreationally (PADI / NAUI) certified Advanced or higher scuba divers will be considered with documented underwater working experience on a case-by case basis;
  • Possess a current diving physical, with no restrictions, signed by a certified Diving Medical Physician;
  • Work at-sea daily in all weather and sea-state conditions; cold, heat, sun, rain, wind, swell, etc;
  • Current CPR / First Aid certification;
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check;
  • SECURITY CLEARANCE: Currently hold of have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret clearance;
  • US citizen (Current US Passport recommended);
  • Eligible to work in the United States;
  • Completed COVID Vaccination(s);
  • Able to lift up to and over 50lbs repeatedly.

 

 

DESIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-4 years of documented leadership experience planning and supervising dives with a military unit or commercial organization;
  • Received advanced diving medical training and/or certifications;
  • Experience wearing underwater full face mask (FFM) diving outfits;
  • Previous experience deploying and recovering heavy objects underwater;
  • Underwater lift bag operations;
  • Current ADCI card (diver or diving supervisor);
  • Oxygen Provider / DANO2;
  • Crane Operator certification;
  • Folk Lift Operator certification;
  • Boat Coxswain experience;
  • EMT / CHT certifications;
