Occupational Therapist II - Casual (Outpatient)

SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Casual Occupational Therapist II to join our Outpatient Neuro Rehabilitation team at our downtown Clinic and Specialty Center location. This position offers a flexible schedule with preferred availability of at least two shifts per week (5 to 8 hour shifts), with schedules established two or more months in advance. There may also be opportunities for additional hours based on department needs and candidate availability.

In this role, you will primarily work with patients with neurologic conditions including traumatic/acquired brain injury (TBI/ABI), stroke, POTS, and other complex diagnoses. Treatment focuses on promoting safety, cognitive function, independence, and participation in activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs).

This position also offers opportunities to expand into specialty areas such as driving rehabilitation, complex DME/power mobility evaluations, and neuro-vision rehabilitation. The ideal candidate is collaborative, adaptable, and passionate about helping patients maximize independence and quality of life through evidence-based neurorehabilitation care.

Purpose of this position: In collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, provides therapeutic services including evaluation, treatment, discharge planning and education.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs and documents comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations
• Develops and documents patient care plans to promote optimal function and safety
• Observes, evaluates and documents patient’s progress
• Participates in hospital rounds and patient care conferences
• Educates patients and caregivers on therapeutic techniques, cares and treatments
• Completes all documentation and charges of services per departmental standards
• Functions as a clinical instructor for occupational therapy students
• Directs and supervises activities performed by the OT aides consistent with their training and skill (patient transfers, patient transport, preparation of patient and equipment for treatment, selected treatment procedures, clerical duties, and departmental maintenance)
• Properly applies and operates rehabilitative equipment
• Develops and conducts occupational therapy in-services for other staff
• Orients and mentors newly assigned staff
