Description -

The Central Category Leader will serve as the operational and strategic backbone of the global HPS Category organization. This leader drives consistency, rigor, and execution across HPS by managing core business processes, aligning global and market-level priorities, and enabling reliable, scalable, data‑driven decision making.

This role exists to fill a critical structural need identified in the HPS Category organization: creating a central business management function able to unify processes, tools, reporting, and operating cadence across geographies, divisions, and Category teams.  

Key Responsibilities

1. Operational Leadership & Cadence Management

  • Establish and run the global HPS Category operating rhythm across WW/Central, Markets & Divisions.
  • Ensure consistent dashboards, KPIs, reporting, and insights across order load, sell‑through, share, fiscal targets, and operational health.
  • Maintain a strict weekly cadence to update all necessary business information, supporting leadership reviews and decision cycles.

2. Strategic Alignment Across Markets & Divisions

  • Drive alignment across HPS Hybrid divisions and support cross‑functional efforts to streamline and standardize execution.
  • Partner with Market Leaders and Category Division Heads to prioritize initiatives, resource allocations, and market asks in a unified, One HP manner.

3. Business Planning & Performance Management

  • Lead development of quota goals, OKRs, performance scorecards, and fiscal targets for the global HPS Category organization.
  • Ensure integration of budget, headcount plans, and REC allocation processes in partnership with HR and Finance.

4. Leadership & People Management

  • Lead and develop a team of Business Unit Leaders and global individual contributors responsible for insights, operations, and enablement.
  • Foster a high‑performance culture through coaching, clarity, customer‑first mindset, and cross‑functional collaboration.

5. Cross‑Organizational Influence

  • Serve as the primary Category interface to:
    • PS & Print Categories for Hybrid
    • GBU Product, Supply Chain, Marketing, Sales, and Support functions
    • Regional MDs & Sales Leadership
  • Integrate HPS Category needs into broader HP-wide priorities, ensuring harmonization with One HP strategy.

Experience & Qualifications

Required

  • 10+ years in category management, business operations, strategy, or cross‑functional leadership roles within large global enterprises.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process standardization across complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Proven success in building and scaling operating cadences or business management systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in financial metrics, forecasting, and performance management.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management capabilities (executive through frontline).
  • Ability to lead teams through transformation, ambiguity, and operational change.

Preferred

  • Experience managing global or multi‑theater category organizations.
  • Deep understanding of HP’s hardware, solutions, peripherals, or services portfolio.
  • Background in Category & Sales alignment, forecasting processes, or GTM optimization.
  • Familiarity with the challenges identified in HPS Category reorganization efforts (e.g., need for unified structure, process consolidation, automation).
