Where You Will Work
Our global headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support global operations in finance, human resources, information technology, planning and more from the main office, satellite offices or online. As a Hybrid employee, you will collaborate primarily virtually anywhere in the U.S. except California, Connecticut, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and South Carolina. Additional states may be excluded based on business factors. Occasionally, you may be required to attend in-person meetings at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix and/or one of our site locations. The Collaboration Hub provides an open, flexible workspace for individuals and teams to come together for various business needs. Amenities at the Hub include a working café, phone booths and meeting rooms with technology tools for virtual and in-person collaboration. In-person attendance may vary based on the position and department requirements.

Description
Under limited supervision plans, organizes, manages and evaluates designated engineering projects and programs, ensuring the successful conclusion of all phases within an appropriate time and at appropriate cost.- Supervises, enhances and monitors designated engineering practices for the site
- Reports environmental compliance issues and makes recommendations to appropriate site management for correction
- Supervises or reviews, investigates and develops appropriate recommendations regarding planned engineering projects
- Supervises or may serve as Project Manager or technical expert, on large/complex site construction, expansion or modification engineering projects
- Provides guidance and counsel to the site management team on applicable programs, practices and existing/proposed local, state and federal regulations
- Evaluates and administers contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment
- Contributes to site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated engineering areas
- Represents the site on company sponsored steering teams, such as Freeport-McMoRan Environmental Steering Team
- Performs other duties as required
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline and seven (7) years of experience in Engineering or related scientific field, including lead or supervisory experience, OR
- Master's degree in an Engineering discipline and five (5) years of experience in Engineering or related scientific field, including lead or supervisory experience
- Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices of Engineering
- Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
- Skilled in managing large/complex engineering projects
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
- Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
- Skilled in supervising, evaluating, training and motivating employees
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Preferred
- Advanced degree or Professional Engineering (PE) Certification
- Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
- Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
- Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
- Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
