About the role
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Diagnostics & Repair
- Utilize scan tools, diagnostic software, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment to identify a test procedure that will simulate a failure.
- Perform root-cause analysis and develop effective test procedures.
- Replace components as needed to demonstrate each fault.
- Diagnose and repair electrical failures, wiring concerns, and module communication issues.
- Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, service manuals, and technical bulletins.
Preventive Maintenance & Inspections
- Perform preventive maintenance services including:
- Oil and filter changes
- Tire rotations and replacements
- Vehicle inspections
- Fluid services
- Brake maintenance
- Scheduled manufacturer maintenance
- Conduct comprehensive safety and mechanical inspections.
- Identify issues that may impact vehicle safety, reliability, performance, or regulatory compliance.
- Recommend corrective actions and maintenance services.
Customer & Team Support
- Clearly document diagnostic findings and procedure details.
- Collaborate with engineers, management, and the customer to execute projects and deliver results.
- Must be able to work in a team environment.
- Good communication skills are a must.
- Must be self-motivated to get the job done.
- Maintain productivity standards while delivering exceptional workmanship.
Shop Operations & Safety
- Adhere to all workplace safety policies and manufacturer repair procedures.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
- Assist with inventory management and parts identification.
- Stay current with industry technologies, manufacturer updates, and repair techniques.
Education
- Associate Degree in Automotive Technology, Automobile Servicing, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of technical training and automotive repair experience will be considered.
Experience
- 3+ years of automotive repair and diagnostics experience preferred.
- Experience in dealership, independent repair, or fleet maintenance environments.
- Proven diagnostic experience on modern vehicle electrical and mechanical systems.
