Job Description
Eurofins Environmental Testing Southwest is searching for a Metals Chemist I in Tustin, CA
The Metals Chemist I is responsible for utilizing general laboratory methods, techniques, equipment, and instrumentation in compliance with Eurofins Quality Assurance programs and SOP’s, to weigh, digest and prepare soil and water samples for trace metal analysis.
Metals Chemist I responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Sample preparation duties may include, but are not limited to the following responsibilities:
- Evaluate backlog and prioritize daily workload based on required due dates and holding times.
- Retrieve samples from sample storage for digestion and preparation.
- Weigh and measure sample aliquots for digestion and preparation
- Document required sample preparation details and observations
- Prepare reagents and standards for daily use
- Maintain laboratory equipment in accordance with the laboratory quality assurance program
- Perform daily duties while adhering to the environmental health and safety policies
- Wash laboratory glassware as needed
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment.
- Actively communication with department manager, analytical team and project managers about job status, rush ETA, sample matrix issues, holding time etc.
- Assist other areas of the laboratory as needed
- Analytical duties may include, but are not limited to the following responsibilities:
- Metals and mercury instrumental analysis to meet daily production goals
- Maintenance and calibration of analytical instrumentation to meet QAQC requirements
- Preparation of chemical reagents, standards and working solutions, following established protocols and safety procedures
- Evaluate backlog and prioritize daily workload based on required due dates and holding times
Qualifications
Basic Minimum Qualifications:
- Chemist I - 1 year minimum experience in a production laboratory setting
- BS or BA in chemistry or related field; 3 years laboratory experience may substitute for a degree
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
- Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English
The ideal candidate will also possess:
- General knowledge of chemistry and/or general science
- Basic mathematical skills
- Strong problem solving skills
- Ability to learn quickly and multi-task
- Work independently
- Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
- Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
- Work within time constraints
Additional Information
Compensation range: $18 -$22 per hour depending on experience and qualifications
Work schedule: Sunday - Thursday, 9am - 6pm plus overtime and weekends as needed.
