Construction Materials Testing Field Technician II

Froehling & Robertson, Inc., (F&R) is looking to hire experienced (at least 2 years of relevant experience) engineering technicians and inspectors to perform construction materials testing and inspection services on projects throughout the greater Raleigh area. These positions include:

• Hourly pay rates starting at $17.00 and up per hour.

As an Engineering Technician and Construction Inspector, you will help ensure public safety by traveling to construction sites to observe on-going construction activities, and perform inspections and testing to verify the work is being performed in accordance with project plans and specifications.  You will be working under the supervision and guidance of a seasoned Project Manager.

What you need to have: 

• 2+ years of relevant experience is required
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Thorough technical knowledge of testing requirements
• Maintenance of ACI Level I Concrete or ICC certifications in the disciplines of soils, reinforced concrete, and masonry
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
• Ability to multi-task and meat deadlines
• Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams to achieve goals
• Excellent attention to details
• Must be willing to participate in and pass F&R’s pre-employment screening including a background investigation, drug screening and driving record
• Requires a valid, clean driver’s license, as travel to job sites is required
• Must continue to maintain a safe driving record and valid driver’s license to fulfill travel requirements of this position

What you’ll be doing: 

Including but not limited to:

• Performing tests and recording observations of a more complex nature
• May provide guidance and direction for other technicians

• Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 70 lbs. on a regular basis
• Performing field materials testing and inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, asphalt and other building materials
• Preparing detailed field reports that provide test results and inspections/observations
• Communicating with clients and contractors, and with our internal engineering and project management staff
