Manages all aspects related to pharmacy technical support staff in Central Inpatient Pharmacy, Infusion Clinic Pharmacy, and Amherst Infusion Clinic Pharmacy. Supervises all Pharmacy Technician IIs, IIIs, and Pharmacy Interns functioning to assist a licensed pharmacist, as directed, in compounding, preparing, packaging, labeling, and dispensing of both hazardous and non-hazardous pharmaceuticals to fill valid prescriptions or medication orders. Works independently to coordinate and manage pharmacy related services to achieve continuous, efficient, and optimal patient care. Performs essential functions related to staff leadership, technical operations management, personnel management, policy and procedures development, and quality assurance. Performs all duties of the Pharmacy Technicians which include but are not limited to pharmaceutical compounding, medication distribution, quality assurance and compliance, and medication inventory management as directed for the efficiency of the service.Starting salary for this position is $30.27 hourly which includes a comprehensive benefits package.
Qualifications:
Required Education and ExperienceCertification Requirement
1. National Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or ExCPT from National Healthcareer Association (NHA) required.
2. Registered Pharmacy Technician with NYS Office of the Professions, State Education Department.
3. ASHP Sterile Product Preparation Certificate to achieve PTCB Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician (CSPT) board certification within 24 months of employment.
Education and Experience
High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time Pharmacy Technician experience in a hospital or healthcare organization that prepares intravenous sterile products including one (1) year experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, or managerial capacity.
NOTE:
1. Incumbents must maintain the required New York State registration and national certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) as a condition of continued employment.
2. Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate should have the following experience:
- PTCB Certification (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board).
- Experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
- Chemotherapy and sterile compounding experience.
- Supervisory and staff training experience.
- Teaching or instructional experience, preferably in a healthcare or pharmacy setting.
