Job Description:

The Sr. Principal Social Impact will play a critical role in executing Discover's Community Development strategy and initiatives. Reporting to the Director, Social Impact, this position will require exceptional communication skills, sound judgment, curiosity, effective project management, and a passion for and curiosity about how corporations play a role in effecting change. The role will be highly visible, interact directly with senior leaders and work with external partners to accelerate Discover's community development efforts and initiatives and drive progress towards Discover's social impact north star goals. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.

Responsibilities

  • Consults and influences key partners (Operations, Community Affairs, Business Diversity, CRA, HR, senior leaders, ERGs, etc.) across Discover to ensure equitable outcomes for the communities surrounding our Discover locations.

  • Serves as the social impact and community development subject matter expert by learning from and providing knowledge about the surrounding communities, tools and frameworks to ensure we use our full platform to advance equity for those communities.

  • Represents Discover externally as a liaison to local community partners (community and civic organizations, corporations, etc.) sitting on panels and participating in external events.

  • Partner and lead senior leaders, Community Affairs, CRA, Business Diversity HR and other key stakeholders in the strategic planning, design, implementation, and monitoring of Discover’s community development programs. Influences key stakeholders to execute and operationalize strategies.

  • Provides visibility and transparency into status and progress of work efforts across the company, including reporting and communications.

  • Builds relationships with other companies and organizations to share best practices and identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities. Stays abreast of relevant changes in the social impact field as well as continually educates on changes.

Minimum Qualifications

At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or Communications.

  • 8+ years of experience in finance, marking, operations, general business management, or related field.

  • 2+ years of experience in social impact or community development.

  • In Lieu of Education, 10+ years of experience in finance, marketing, operations, general business management, or related field and 2+ years of experience in social impact or community development

Preferred Qualifications

If we had our say, we’d also look for:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or Communications.

  • 1+ year of managerial experience

Compensation:

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $100,500.00 to $170,100.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
