As our Trail's Maintenance Trades Worker, you will spend your days ensuring the upkeep of our multi-use trails and trailheads throughout Sarasota County. Become a vital member of the Natural Areas and Trails team, working to protect and preserve our natural resources and public lands to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for our residents and visitors.This position starts out paying $17.72/hr, with potential higher pay (steps) for those with multiple years of experience. About the Position
In this role you will...
Clean, landscape, and maintain the parks, restrooms, facilities, playground areas and equipment, parking lots, storage areas, and pavilions.
Perform minor repairs to amenities such as fencing, signs, stop stations, benches, bike fix-it stations, two- pole shelters, historic structures, trails and parking lots.
Daily cleaning can include emptying trash and picking up litter along The Legacy Trail.
Work on maintenance projects.
Operate automotive equipment, landscape equipment, and hand tools.
Keep a schedule of maintenance for assigned area(s).
Perform daily safety checks and repairs.
Provide a presence and/or assistance during special events, workdays and other heavy use periods and will provide customer service to trail patrons.
Work Hours:
Full-Time, 40 Hours Per Week
Tuesday - Saturday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Schedules can change based on operational needs/events, split shifts, emergencies, etc.
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent education.
One year of experience as a semi-skilled laborer in the care and maintenance of parks, landscape, athletic fields, or other similar grounds.
Valid Florida Driver's License at time of hire.
Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.

Starting Pay Range: $17.72 (Step 1) - $18.80 (Step 3), depending on qualifications
