About the role
Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
As Firmware Engineer, you will work with a wide variety of functional groups and will be deeply involved in low-level firmware design and implementation, as well as overall system integration:
· Develop tools for characterizing antenna systems
· Support electrical bring-up and debug of prototype hardware
· Collaborate with software teams to manage the definition of communication protocols
· Work closely with systems team to design and implement optimized DSP algorithms
· Implement DSP firmware to map high-level algorithms from Matlab/C to architecture-specific code

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Solid fundamental CS / EE skill set with hands-on industry or university experience in embedded software development and embedded system design
