Job Title: Materials Senior Specialist – Ceramic Matrix Composites

Working Pattern: Hybrid – 3 in office days a week

Working Location: Indianapolis, IN  or Cypress, CA

Join Rolls-Royce as a Materials Senior Specialist – Ceramic Matrix Composites. As a Materials Senior Specialist, you will be recognised as a key source of business-critical Materials Engineering technical expertise across the company. You will have in-depth and/or breadth of knowledge in Ceramic Matrix Composites – Environmental Barrier Coating material system and it’s processing, microstructure and properties with a broad knowledge of other related disciplines. In this role, you will generate business benefits through the application of deep technical knowledge.

Acts as a change agent, adding significant long-term value through enhancing technical competitive advantage and/or fixing problems that pose significant commercial risk. Impact may be across multiple business units within the group, or on an area of technical expertise within a single business but recognised as being significant at group level and across the wider industry.
Ensures appropriate policies, standards and best practices are defined, shared and adopted.
Pro-actively identifies opportunities to improve company capability in the specialism to address long-term technology, methods and people capability requirements.

What you will be doing:

• Strategy: Actively participates in the development and execution of the strategy with respect to their area of specialism; is regarded as a thought leader influencing senior business and technical leaders
• Project Definition: Leads the definition of capability projects including capturing requirements, creating proposals, achieving stakeholder approval, acquiring funding and aligning partner support
• Capability Development: Leads the development and application of new capabilities; leads capability development projects
• Problem Solving: Leads the resolution of new and emerging technical, compliance and business problems, integrating cross-functional business processes, using analytical processes and applying professional judgement
• Collaboration: Proactively participates in internal and external networks of fellow specialists to further the understanding of the specialist subject; actively involved in the implementation of strategic collaborative relationships
• Leadership: Provides technical direction to peers and more junior professionals, and technical leadership to teams and projects within their specialism
