Introduction
Are you looking for an apprentice or graduation internship? Are you studying mechatronics or electronic engineering? Then this internship is for you!
Background Information
The Wafer Stage Positioning department specializes in developing electronics that can be found in all stages of our lithography machines. The wafer stage keeps the wafer in our machines in place, while it is moving at high speed. Within these machines, we use high voltage cables, connectors, printed circuit assemblies and sensors. We make use of a hardware software interface, to combine all of these elements.
Your Assignment
Numerous sensors are used to guarantee the performance and health of ASML machines. One phenomenon effecting the performance of these sensors is the magnetic field in their respective environment. The aim is to find a way to understand and foresee the behavior of sensors under magnetic field and define a good or well testing approach for this objective. This internship assignment requires electromechanical design to upgrade an existing test setup in order to achieve the end goal.
The assignment will consist of the following:
- Mechanical design of a Carrier Plate (CP) for supporting sensor and additional test equipment.
- Magnetic Field measurement sensor selection, and adapting the part mechanically to the CP.
- Motor selection for the Z axis movement.
- Integration of CP to the existing test setup.
- Generating a detailed design report.
- Presenting the study with justification of outcomes, evaluation of the process and recommendations for potential future work.
Your Profile
To be a good match for this assignment, you are:
- A bachelor or master's student studying Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.
- You have good communication skills.
- You have a quality driven and proactive mindset.
Please note that we can only consider students who are enrolled at a school for the entire duration of the internship. The team is looking for an intern to join for a 5 - 6-month internship period, starting in September for 4-5 days per week.

ASML: be part of progress
ASML is a high-tech company headquartered in the Netherlands. We manufacture the complex lithography machines that chipmakers use to produce integrated circuits, or computer chips. What we do is at the heart of all the electronic devices that keep us informed, entertained and connected. Every day, you use electronics that simply wouldn’t exist without our machines.
Behind ASML’s innovations are engineers who think ahead. The people who work at our company include some of the most creative minds in physics, electrical engineering, mathematics, chemistry, mechatronics, optics, mechanical engineering, computer science and fields which are not technical oriented.
We believe we can always do better. We believe the winning idea can come from anyone. We love what we do – not because it’s easy, but because it’s hard.
Students: getting ready for real-world R&D
We’re a global team of about 39,000 people of 140 different nationalities and counting. Headquartered in Europe’s top tech hub, the Brainport Eindhoven region in the Netherlands, our operations are spread across Europe, Asia and the
