About the role

Baesman Group is a fourth-generation, family-owned direct marketing company specializing in direct mail production. With a team of 130 employees, we provide end-to-end services, including direct mail marketing, email marketing, direct-to-consumer strategy, analytics, printing, and mailing. Our variable data printing services require precision, efficiency, and exceptional attention to detail. We are currently seeking a Director, Technology to join our team.

Summary:

The Director, Technology is responsible for overseeing the company’s technology infrastructure, ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of all IT systems. This role involves strategic planning, budget management, vendor relations, and leadership of the IT support team to drive business success through technology. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver, an effective communicator, and a leader who fosters innovation while ensuring seamless IT operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Ensure IT systems and infrastructure are secure, scalable, and aligned with business objectives. Collaborate with other departments to ensure technology supports business operations effectively.

2. Oversee cybersecurity measures, data protection policies, testing, and compliance with relevant regulations. Establish and enforce IT policies, best practices, and procedures to maintain system integrity and uptime.

3. Identify, evaluate, and implement new technologies that enhance operational efficiency and business growth. Engage with business teams to understand requirements and propose technology solutions while working with developers and database administrators to deliver functional solutions.

4. Planning, implementation, administration, management, daily maintenance, ongoing support, and decommissioning of all servers (on-premises and cloud-based), networking appliances, firewalls, routers, switches, wireless components, computers, mobile devices, and telecommunications equipment.

5. Support and administration (expert-level) of underlying IT technologies including Server 2012-2022, Active Directory, MS Entra and MS365, MS SQL Server, Symantec, KnowBe4, SSRS, Power BI, MS Teams, SharePoint, and others.

6. Actively develop, lead, and participate in infrastructure planning sessions, and handle all IT-based implementation and decommissioning projects. Prepare daily/weekly/monthly infrastructure reports to keep the Baesman executive team informed.

7. Monitor all core systems/system events/access logs, performing network design and support, managing Meraki firewall ACLs, VPN, MFA/2FA. Possess a strong working knowledge of storage technologies (SAN, NAS, etc.), perform data migrations, plan, document, and test disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.

8. Lead and manage the IT support team to provide customer-focused, fast, and friendly support for all systems and applications. Strong commitment to IT as a service for the business. Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills required. Strong knowledge of both PC and Mac systems.

9. Be the primary point of escalation for the internal IT Manager role to assist with higher-level problem solving. Assist in process documentation and change management.

10. Manage IT vendor relationships, including contract negotiations, performance monitoring, and service-level agreements.

Requirements

Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field; or five to seven years related

Skills, Abilities, Tasks:

• Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, cloud platforms, networking, cybersecurity, and enterprise applications.

• Strong knowledge of mixed environments consisting of Windows-based, macOS-based, and Linux-based OS in a mixed Windows/Mac/Mobile environment.

• Working knowledge of relational database systems.

• Comprehensive knowledge of security systems and procedures.

• Expertise with both on-premises and cloud-based environments and tools.

• Comprehensive knowledge of security best practices and procedures.

• Curious and enjoys learning new tools.

• Occasionally assist with team training and ongoing support.

• Provide knowledge, support, and backup for the IT Manager role.

• Ability to set up and support handheld devices (including Mobile Device Management systems) from a variety of vendors.

• Experience with a variety of systems from different vendors including Dell, Cisco, Meraki, HP, Apple, Synology, and others.
