Sr Global Medical Affairs Leader- CVRM Emerging Medicines

We are looking for a Senior Global Medical Affairs Leader (GMAL) for Emerging Medicines to join our BioPharmaceuticals Business Unit. Reporting directly to the Global Medical Head – Emerging Medicines, the GMAL will help drive evidence and confidence innovation for prioritized assets in the CVRM phase 2/3 portfolio. This role is instrumental in ensuring market readiness for our CVRM pipeline and is fundamental to the external recognition of AstraZeneca’s scientific leadership.
Accountabilities:
As a Senior GMAL, you will be expected to develop strong working relationships with colleagues across AZ, including those in clinical development, regulatory, early commercial and payor functions. You will be responsible for developing and implementing an Evidence Generation Plan to support a successful product launch, developing individual asset and broader portfolio narratives, and driving an external engagement strategy. You will also be responsible to provide strategic Input into clinical trial designs and endpoints and drive the development of Target Product Profiles (TPPs) and Target Product Claims (TPCs) to help shape the clinical development program
Essential Skills/Experience:
Doctoral level degree: MD, PhD, or PharmD
5+ years of experience in a pharma, medical or clinical setting, including experience working at a global and/or regional level
Experienced Business leader (e.g. led a TA/franchise in a market, driven brand performance, led large teams incl. field medical)
Deep healthcare system pathways/market-shaping experience (e.g. led transformation programs in a healthcare systems, driven partnerships from pharma perspective)
Substantial evidence generation/data expertise, e.g. clinical trial experience (conducted Ph2, Ph3 or Ph4 studies), and/or substantial RWE experience (world-class registry, experience with RWE for label enhancement, practice changing RWD usage)
Medical/clinical/scientific expertise in CVRM preferred
Desirable Skills/Experience:
Evidence of working in a matrix environment, being able to influence without authority
Strong working relationships with global thought leaders, including key experts and opinion leaders, professional societies and other healthcare industries/organizations
Proven ability to build internal and external networks and to collaborate across geographies and cultures
Experience in developing and launching medicines in key geographies—e.g US, China
Additional experience in an collaborative function that could strengthen the above—time spent in market access, commercial functions, drug development or substantial academic medicine experience of relevance
