Salary Range:

To scale our current impact, ASU Prep is advancing a major expansion program taking fundamental responsibility for the communities we serve.The Teacher on Special Assignment (T.O.S.A.) is responsible for making knowledge accessible to all students, developing students’ cognitive capacity and respect for learning. This position will foster students’ self-esteem, motivation, and sense of civic responsibility and leadership. This position will work with instructional assistants and parental volunteers in classroom management, implementing school policies through communication about students’ academic, as well as discipline, issues.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Post Bachelors in Education from an accredited college or university or meets Highly Qualified requirements per the Arizona Department of Education.
- State of Arizona Teaching Certificate (appropriate endorsements may be required depending on the area of instruction or have passed appropriate AEPA or NES proficiency exams).
- Current American Heart Association Adult and Child Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certification, required.
- Satisfactory criminal background check with current Active AZ Department of Public Safety (DPS) IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Flexibility in working in multiple classrooms and content areas.
- Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Delivers instruction as a substitute teacher for justified lengths of time, as determined by site director, in any content area and at any grade level when teacher of record is not available to teach his/her class.
- Coordinates with directors, mentors and office managers to schedule and teach classes as needed to allow for teachers to observe classrooms.
- Follows all policies, rules and procedures for which all teachers are responsible and which good teaching practice dictates.
- Remains in the assigned classroom until all students have been dismissed for the day.
- Responsible for all classroom duties in assigned classroom
- Assumes responsibility for overseeing student behavior in class and surrounding areas.
- Assists school-wide activities during ILP days.
- Supervises students during emergency drills, assemblies, recreation periods, lunch periods, play periods, and field trips to include resolving conflicts.
- Communicates with absent teacher reports of student and classroom progress.
- Responsible for following all plans, duties and schedules of the assigned during the teaching day, teaches the outlined lesson, maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which
- he/she is assigned.
- Works collaboratively to achieve the overall purposes of the school program.
- Maintains a classroom atmosphere conducive of learning.
- Maintains confidentiality of protected student and staff member information even after no longer being employed or enrolled.
- Participates in school and Network PD, and school activities as expected of a classroom teacher.
- Meets regular and predictable attendance requirements.
- Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong written and spoken communication skills.
- Knowledge of grammar and command of the English language
- Demonstrated skill in working in a classroom setting.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with a wide-range of people including teachers, support staff, and students.
- Proficiency with technology, computers and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability and skill in collaborating with teachers, staff, students and parents.
