Job Overview
The Executive Director serves as the senior administrative and strategic leader of the Psaros Center for Financial Markets and Policy (Center), providing executive-level vision, leadership, and operational oversight to advance the Center’s mission, impact, and global reputation. In close partnership with the Founding Director and advisory board, the Executive Director is responsible for setting and executing a comprehensive, multi-year strategy that positions the Center as a leading authority in financial markets and policy, aligned with the priorities and values of the McDonough School of Business (MSB) and Georgetown University.
The Executive Director oversees all aspects of strategy, fundraising, operations, programming, and stakeholder engagement. This role carries primary responsibility for cultivating and sustaining high-level relationships with corporate, foundation, government, and industry leaders; securing philanthropic and sponsored funding; and ensuring the Center's long-term financial sustainability and growth.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Leads development and implementation of multi-year strategic plan.
Formulates plans and strategies to advance and promote the Center.
Represents the Center to internal and external interests at the highest levels.
Serve as a visible intellectual leader and content authority in financial markets and policy.
Author and oversee the production of high-impact thought leadership, including white papers, policy briefs, blogs, and reports.
Fundraising is a key aspect of the job. Set annual minimum fundraising goals and develop a strategy to meet them.
Work Interactions
The Executive Director reports to the Psaros Center Founding Director and manages Psaros team members, including the Assistant and Associate Directors. This position collaborates with faculty leadership, advisory board members, MSB senior leadership, and University partners to integrate the Center’s mission into MSB's academic, research, and experiential learning priorities.
The Executive Director maintains frequent interaction with senior University stakeholders, including advancement, marketing and communications, events, and external relations teams. Externally, the Executive Director engages CEOs, senior executives, policymakers, regulators, alumni, and philanthropic leaders to advance strategic partnerships, fundraising, and visibility. The Executive Director position is critical to advancing the Center’s mission and is responsible for all aspects of the Center’s strategy and operations.
Requirements and Qualifications
Master’s degree required
Minimum of 15 years of progressively senior leadership experience in finance, public policy, academia, industry, government, or a related field.
Demonstrated success in executive-level fundraising, business development, or revenue generation with corporations and foundations.
Proven ability to lead complex organizations or initiatives, including strategic planning, budget oversight, and team leadership.
Exceptional executive presence with outstanding written and oral communication skills; ability to engage credibly with senior leaders, boards, media, and policymakers.
Recognized expertise or thought leadership in areas related to financial markets, regulation, FinTech, ESG, or public policy strongly preferred.
