The Justice, Community and Leadership Program at Saint Mary’s College of California invites applications to teach a JCL 100,  Introduction to Justice, Community and Leadership 

3 Units TTH 10:05AM-11:20AM

August 30-December 18, 2026

This course will be taught in person, on the Moraga campus.

This course introduces students to program themes of justice, community and leadership. Through interactive discussions and engaged learning activities, students analyze how communities both shape and are shaped by larger social forces of race, gender, class, sexuality, culture, and the environment. The course gives special emphasis to the theme of social justice in U.S. society exploring possible avenues to create the kind of "Beloved Community" envisioned by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 

 

Qualifications

Candidate must have a PhD in a social science, or an EdD with a special interest in urban education; experience in community engagement/service learning, critical pedagogy, leadership theory and a social justice framework. Experience in teaching community based research and participatory action research.

Candidates must reside in California.

The salary is $7,447 - $10,308 depending on qualifications.   The salary range for this position is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here.
