Job Description

Compass Government Solutions is seeking dedicated and compassionate Medical Technicians (Phlebotomists) who are interested in providing onsite support at the Bedford, MA VA Medical Center. In preparation to bid on the VA contract, we are seeking qualified candidates who are willing to be included in our proposal as an interested and skilled individual. As the Medical Technician (Phlebotomist), your primary responsibility will be to draw blood from patients for various laboratory tests while ensuring a high level of patient care and comfort. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of laboratory procedures and medical terminology. 

Job Requirements

• Medical Technician shall provide Medical Technician (Phlebotomist) Laboratory services on site in accordance with the specifications contained herein to beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and VA Bedford.
• Medical Technician may work in multiple areas of the lab as determined by the needs of the service at that time.
• Medical Technician will perform patient phlebotomy to include inpatient ward rounds, inpatient and outpatient, Emergency Department (ED), STAT, as soon as possible (ASAP), and timed draws.
• Medical Technician will perform sample processing and send out preparation
• As part of safety, positively identifies patients prior to sample collection and samples prior to testing or aliquoting.
• As part of safety and safeguards electronic and paper patient information
• Identifies, documents, and resolves any collection, processing, testing, or reporting issues
• Assures patient-centered care and provides service in a manner that is professional and will avoid complaints from all stakeholders and customers.
• May also be required to work weekends, holidays, and overtime. However, on-call or standby duties will NOT be required.

Qualifications

• Must have three (3) years of recent Phlebotomy experience
• Must be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the government’s requirements, including the ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.
• Successful completion of (a) a full-time training course of approximately a year's duration in a medical or clinical laboratory assistant. (or technician) school that included instruction in chemistry, hematology, blood banking, and microbiology (including serology) and that, in addition, included supervised laboratory practice incident to the diagnostic process and the treatment of patients; or (b) 1 year of study that included at least 6 semester hours in chemistry and/or biological science.
