Position Summary
The Lead Director, Corporate Communications reports to the Vice President, Communications and will help develop and execute an internal and external communications strategy focused on strategy communication initiatives across CVS Health, including reputation management, Annual report, executive visibility/thought leadership, etc. This individual advises and influences strategic decisions pertaining to scope, pitch and implementation of internal and external communications strategies and engagement activities aligned with enterprise priority initiatives. The Lead Director will also manage a team member to help project manage and coordinate communication initiatives broadly across CVS Health enterprise to promote awareness and understanding of key goals, deliverables, and milestones.
This individual is a key member of the Corporate Communications team and will collaborate with colleagues supporting other lines of business, as well as our centers of excellence. The Lead Director involves a high degree of relationship building across the enterprise and beyond and serves as a trusted advisor to key stakeholders across the broad company in Legal, Human Resources, Government Affairs, Marketing, Investor Relations as well as external stakeholders including agency partners and consultants.
Areas of focus will include:
- Developing, driving, and executing comprehensive communication strategies for enterprise priority initiatives aligned with the organization’s strategic imperatives, e.g., executive visibility/thought leadership.
- Identifying and providing recommendations for changes in communications strategy to drive more impactful results for external communications and colleague awareness and engagement.
- Overseeing the creation and dissemination of internal and external communications materials, e.g., ESG report.
- Driving coordinated and consistent communications (e.g., Leader resources/videos, talking points, etc.) to support enterprise priority communication initiatives.
- Leading the reputation steering committee, facilitating cross-functional collaboration to identify and align on key risks and opportunities that impact the organization’s reputation, ensuring a consistent and cohesive identity across the enterprise and aligned with company narrative.
- Driving internal and external corporate brand storytelling to support enterprise initiatives, including marketing campaigns, by developing compelling narratives that resonate with target audiences, leveraging various communication channels and platforms to effectively communicate the organization’s mission, values, and key messages.
This is a hybrid role (3 days a week onsite) in one of the CVS Health or Aetna offices in NYC; Hartford, CT or Woonsocket, RI.
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years' Communications experience including developing and executing communication plans, coordination of internal communications channels, writing a variety of content (e.g., leader memos, executive talking points, presentations, etc.)
- Willingness to travel as needed to support business needs
- Proven experience developing and executing successful communication programs at the enterprise or business unit level for major corporate organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize business strategies into communication solutions and ability to set strategy and maintain channel focus.
- Ability to build relationships; integrate strategies; and connect the dots between messages, timing, and activities under other leaders’ influence.
- Adjust communication style to the audience to help them understand and accept change.
- Ability to manage, motivate and inspire a top performing team that drives execution of strategies against outlined plans.
- Ability to handle high-level confidential matters with discretion and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in Healthcare industry.
- Corporate and agency PR experience.
