Baylor University seeks to fill a tenure-track faculty position within the Department of Theatre Arts at the Assistant Professor level effective Fall 2026. We are searching for a collaborative faculty member with research experience in dramaturgy, theatre history, theory, performance studies, and/or dramatic literature. The specific area of investigation is open but the department is particularly interested in candidates with experience in directing and dramaturgy as well as a record of academic scholarship.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

• Terminal degree (Ph.D., DFA, or MFA) in Theatre History, Performance Studies, Dramaturgy, or closely related field; ABD candidates will be considered, if degree is to be conferred by August 2026;
• Research experience in dramaturgy, theatre history, theory, performance studies, and/or dramatic literature;
• A record of professional achievement and ongoing professional scholarship and research is expected;
• The successful candidate will have evidence of the potential to receive external grant funding. 

PREFERRED

• University-level teaching experience is preferred.

• A copy of the transcript from the highest-degree granting institution (unofficial copy acceptable for application);
• Three letters of recommendation.

Candidates who are invited for an on campus interview will be required to provide an official transcripts of highest degree earned. These items are to be submitted via Interfolio. Finalist(s) will be invited for interview with the department and university administration.
