The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) is the state of Florida’s social services agency. The agency oversees services for child safety, fostering, adoption, domestic violence, adult protective services, refugees, homelessness, mental health, substance abuse, childcare providers, human trafficking and public assistance. Within DCF, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health (SAMH) Program office is recognized as the single state authority for substance abuse and mental health services. The Office of SAMH is statutorily responsible for the planning, evaluation, and implementation of a comprehensive statewide system of care for the prevention, treatment, and recovery of children and adults with serious mental illnesses or substance use disorders.

THIS IS NOT A TELEWORK POSITION. CANDIDATE WILL BE REQUIRED TO WORK IN THE TALLAHASSEE OFFICE.

 

This is a highly responsible and professional position that will serve as the Correspondence Liaison (Government Operations Consultant II) within the SAMH Program Office. This position will collaborate with each section within the program office and be required to use independent judgement, take initiative in carrying out duties and responsibilities and should be extraordinarily detail oriented. The Correspondence Liaison ensures all program office correspondence assignments are executed timely.

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Respond to inquiries or complaints, offering appropriate solutions and alternatives within set time limits; ensure follow-up for resolution in a timely manner. 
  • Coordinating, assembling, tracking, and reporting all program office correspondence.
  • Edit correspondence to comply with the Department’s correspondence guidelines.
  • Provide support to committees as necessary including creating and disseminating agenda, creating project timeline and capture action items.
  • Maintain records for the units and will ensure the storage retrieval and destruction following established State procedures.
  • Scheduling and planning meetings, conferences, and/or conference calls, including arranging the time, location, and space and informing participants of the topics to be discussed Consult and advise on other projects/assignments, as directed.
  • Develop procedures and prepares process mapping and task inventories to evaluate processes and develops potential improvements.
  • Conserving the Assistant Secretary time by reading, researching, and routing correspondence; drafting letters and documents; collecting and analyzing information; and initiating telecommunications.
  • Prepare reports, applications, documents, and other written materials as needed.
  • Plan, analyze, prioritize, and manage a high volume of multiple assignments, reports, and tasks in a timely manner.
  • Representing SAMH at meetings to furnish or obtain information.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and exercises solid judgment.
  • Editing and maintaining program office documents, as necessary.
