Dismantles, adjusts, repairs and assembles equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches or drawings. Uses test and diagnostic equipment to preform checkouts. Rebuilds manufacturing equipment as required. May perform equipment modifications as directed by manufacturing engineers. Job Description – FEOL Lead Equipment Maintenance Technician (PM/Rebuild)

As a Lead Equipment Technician for the PM Team and component rebuilds at Polar Semiconductor in Bloomington, MN, you are responsible for planning, monitoring, sustaining, and improving the equipment and/or processes of the defined PMs and rebuild tasks, while working in partnership with production team members, area engineers, and shift maintenance technicians. Lead Equipment Maintenance Technician monitors PM services performance, schedule and perform preventative maintenance on assigned tool sets, and use mechanical, electronic and PC/software skills to troubleshoot and repair equipment issues during preventative maintenance. They are also required to create and modify equipment PM and rebuild procedures; and increase tool uptime through systematic problem solving and troubleshooting, quality workmanship, thoroughly document all maintenance performed in established check sheets and tracking programs, and routine review of maintenance check sheets and procedures. They monitor, analyze and address SPC issues for area processes post PM on a daily basis and utilize the data to optimize the equipment.

Job Duties

• Complete all required safety training and conduct all work in accordance with safety policies.
• Troubleshoot, maintain and ensure uptime on all applicable equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance & repair/calibration on key process equipment & systems.
• Provide content for, and submit updates for controlled documentation (PM procedures, check-sheets, work instructions, etc.)
• Participate on the Emergency Response Team.
• Safely perform work in a hazardous environment utilizing proper Personal Protective Equipment (including SCBA or respirator).
• Engage in systematic troubleshooting to identify root-cause of failures.
• Minimize tool down-time and variability to increase equipment availability.
• Document all maintenance activities in Equipment Management System.
• Monitor, analyze, and address SPC issues.
• Support and maintain 5S activities.
• Communicate issues effectively to the all team members.
• Contribute to and communicate detailed pass downs to ensure a smooth transition from shift-to-shift.
• Partner with Production team members and area engineers to support equipment.
• For a specific area, be the POC (point of contact) for Fab managers, operators, production and engineering.
• Monitor, schedule, and prepare for upcoming PMs.
• Track PM Team performance data, conduct root cause analysis of failures, and implement improvements to improve PM quality and efficiency.
• Work with Equipment Engineers to identify best PM methods and implement solutions.
• Work with technicians to acquire and maintain certifications.
• Communicate concerns regarding team members promptly with supervisor.
• Communicate with shipping, logistics, and external vendors to maintain Implant component rebuild cycles.

Requirements

• Knowledge of electronics and control systems, mechanics / robotics, hydraulics, pneumatics and vacuum systems, heat transfer, fluid mechanics. Skill in diagnosing equipment issues. Verbal and written communication. 
• Requires an Associate’s degree in electronics technology or other relevant curriculum, or a combination of education and substantial directly related experience in semiconductor manufacturing environment.

Preferred

• Maintenance experience on 200mm ASM E2000 Epitaxy Reactors, Axcelis GSD200 Ion Implanter, Axcelis MAX 8250HT Ion Implanter, or AMAT Viista Ion Implanter.
• Understanding of Epitaxy and Ion Implant processes.
• Knowledge of SPC.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
