Entry Level Tax Accountant

Summary
Prosperity Life Insurance Group, LLC (Prosperity) is seeking a highly motivated tax accountant to assist with day-to-day operations and to continue to grow through regular interaction with its Tax Manager and Tax Director. The successful candidate must demonstrate critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage conflicting priorities. Open to new graduates with a passion for tax and an interest in growing as a tax professional.

Major Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual federal income tax provisions, analyze results, and coordinate deliverables with tax manager.
• Prepare tax journal entries to ensure financial reporting accuracy and monitor integrity of general ledger.
• Coordinate with external service provider on the preparation of all income/franchise tax returns and installment tax calculations and ensure timely remittance of all required payments.
• Conduct tax research and articulate findings to supervisors.
• Assist Tax Manager and Tax Director with special projects, as applicable.
• Assist with product tax issues and form 1099 reporting requirements.
• Assist with the preparation of premium tax returns and the calculation and remittance of installment payments and coordinate with external service provider.
• Assist with the preparation of federal and state policyholder withholding tax returns and the calculation and remittance of installment payments.
• Assist with business tax or occupational license tax requirements with all municipal jurisdictions and coordinate with external service provider. Ensure compliance with state licensure requirements and ensure all applicable fees are remitted timely.

Supervisory Responsibilities This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience and Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field. Masters in Accounting or Masters Taxation (MST) preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in tax accounting or related field. CPA license preferred.
• Effective communication and relationship building skills and strong verbal and written skills, with both internal and external business partners.
• Candidate must have strong critical thinking, research and analytical skills.
• Candidate must have the ability to articulate basic concepts in a clear and concise manner.
• Highly proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
