About the role

Groupon is an experience marketplace that brings people more ways to get the most out of their city or wherever they may be. By enabling real-time mobile commerce across local businesses, live events and travel destinations, Groupon helps people find and discover experiences––big and small, new and familiar––that make for a full, fun and rewarding life. Groupon helps local businesses grow and strengthen customer relationships––resulting in strong, vibrant communities. With employees spread across multiple continents, we still maintain a culture that inspires innovation, rewards risk-taking and celebrates success. Our culture encourages employees to embrace change, adapt to new circumstances, and find creative solutions to the challenges we face. Does that sound like a great way to grow your career?

The Commercial Finance team at Groupon is at the heart of the company's financial strategy, operations, and execution. The Commercial Finance team acts as internal consultants with VP-level business leaders across the organization to understand the ins and outs of a specific business unit. Through focusing on two main areas—controllership and business support—we ensure the success of the business while maximizing profit for each group they work with. This is a hands-on opportunity to develop a deep understanding of our business, providing you with a unique insight into how our company operates.

The 2024 Summer Internship offers hands-on experience, providing a unique opportunity to gain deep insights into the operations of a Global Finance department for a publicly traded US tech company. As a 2024 Summer Intern on the Commercial Finance team, you will support the team as they partner with leaders of various departments across the organization. During this internship, you will also have opportunities to collaborate with other interns within the Finance and Accounting department (i.e. Tax, Accounting, FP&A).

The 2024 Summer Internship program is scheduled to be 9 weeks from June 3, 2024 - August 2nd, 2024. The program will be a hybrid schedule based out of our Chicago office. Interns will be required to be in the Chicago office on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week which is consistent with our current US employee office policy. All other weekdays, interns have the flexibility to work remotely. The hourly rate for our interns is $15.
