About the Job:

The Director-Nursing Services provides strategic clinical leadership and operational oversight for nursing functions across 38 behavioral health facilities. This role is responsible for ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality, patient-centered nursing care that aligns with regulatory standards, clinical best practices, and organizational goals.
Reporting to the VP-Nursing, and serving as the key driver of nursing excellence, the Director-Nursing Services directs the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing policies, procedures, and programs across all locations. The role ensures safe, effective, and compassionate care through strong collaboration with facility-level nursing leaders, interdisciplinary teams, and executive leadership.

This is a remote, travel-based position requiring frequent visits to facilities to provide hands-on leadership, monitor compliance, and support continuous clinical improvement. The Director-Nursing Services fosters a culture of accountability, empathy, and professionalism, ensuring that nursing services support the mission of delivering high-quality behavioral healthcare.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of nursing services across all 38 behavioral health facilities.

  • Develop, implement, and standardize nursing policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure consistency, safety, and quality of care.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation and licensing standards.

  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align nursing strategies with organizational goals and clinical priorities.

  • Support and mentor facility-level Directors of Nursing to promote leadership growth, operational effectiveness, and staff development.

  • Monitor clinical outcomes and quality indicators to identify trends, drive improvement initiatives, and ensure high standards of patient care.

  • Oversee staffing models, workforce planning, and recruitment strategies to maintain adequate and competent nursing teams.

  • Lead initiatives related to nursing education, training, and professional development across all sites.

  • Conduct regular site visits to assess clinical performance, provide coaching, and ensure adherence to organizational standards.

  • Serve as a key liaison between corporate leadership and facility nursing teams, fostering communication, alignment, and accountability.

  • Promote a culture of empathy, respect, and professionalism within all clinical settings.

  • Respond to critical clinical concerns, incidents, or crises with prompt leadership and support.

  • Lead or support audits, surveys, and other regulatory review processes across the network

Education/Experience/Skill Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current, unrestricted license.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree in Nursing preferred.

  • Five or more years of nursing leadership experience, including multi-site management.

  • Five or more years of progressive nursing leadership experience, with at least three years in a behavioral health position.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and manage large clinical teams.

  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows and healthcare documentation standards.

  • Extensive experience in behavioral health or psychiatric nursing settings.

  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and nursing best practices.

  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly to facilities

Licenses/Designations/Certifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current, unrestricted license

  • Certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (e.g., PMH-B), Nurse Executive NE-BC, NEA-BC, or CENP) or equivalent leadership/clinical credentials strongly preferred.

WORK LOCATION:

This is a full-time, remote position that requires regular travel to facilities. Travel expectation is 50%.
