Northrop Grumman Space Systems in Linthicum, MD is seeking a 

Principal/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to join our Mission Systems Engineering Integration and Test (MSEIT) team.  As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to support efforts on both concept and product development to deliver key solutions to our customers. We cover a wide range of expertise within the systems engineering domain. This includes mission engineering, requirements, architecture, modeling and simulation, integration and test, verification and validation, and on-orbit operations and support.

Primary Responsibilities:

As a member of the Verification Planning Team, you will support the planning, conducting, and reporting of Verification work packages and activities to prove our hardware and software product compliance to their associated requirements. This engineer will work within a multi-disciplined project team under direction of the Systems Engineering, Integration and Test Lead and the Verification lead to effectively and efficiently deliver the assigned Verification activities. This role may include, but is not limited to, the following tasks:

Develop plans to conduct and report task activities which include:

  • Project requirements for Verification,

  • Design estimate compilation,

  • Compilation, issue and review of management plans, processes and metrics,

  • Project Design & Risk reviews,

  • Fault/Issue investigation, review and reporting

  • Implementation of project security measures related to V&V activities

  • Reporting to NG Management and Project team.

  • Promote best practice for V&V engineering lifecycle activities in accordance with Corporate and Industry Standards.

This position can be staffed at a Principal or Sr. Principal level, based on the basic qualifications below. In addition, this position will be in Linthicum, MD.

The basic qualifications you must have to be considered:

  • Principal Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in STEM curriculum with 5 years relevant experience; 3 years with MS Degree; or PhD with 1 year of experience.

  • Sr Principal Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in STEM curriculum with 8 years relevant experience; 6 years with MS Degree; or PhD with 4 years of experience.

  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance a time of application, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI approval/access.

  • Systems engineering experience (i.e. requirements, mission engineering, architecture, modeling and simulation, integration and test, verification and validation)

  • Verification planning or verification execution experience

  • Space experience

  • Sensor/payload experience

  • Active TS/SCI

Primary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $203,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
