Capital Mrkts Sales & ServiceSupports the origination, structuring, and ongoing management of corporate lending transactions—primarily within the Internet and Digital Media sector and select other technology subsectors. Operates as part of a broader coverage team, partnering closely with Investment Banking, Product partners, and Portfolio Management to deliver integrated client solutions. Responsibilities include providing lending expertise, cross‑selling Corporate Banking products (FX/treasury, cash management, corporate cards, commodities, investment management, securitization, leasing, trade finance), facilitating credit approvals, and maintaining strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship & Business Development
- Cultivates, maintains, and deepens relationships with new and existing clients across the Internet & Digital Media sector.
- Expands BMO’s presence and brand through strong market engagement and community involvement.
- Identifies and initiates new business opportunities, including cross‑selling products and expanding share of wallet.
- Anticipates evolving client needs and delivers strategic, creative, and timely solutions.
- Serves as a trusted advisor by providing insights, recommendations, and strategic guidance.
Deal Execution & Structuring
- Acts as a key member of deal teams to drive sector penetration and optimized returns.
- Leads the structuring, negotiation, and execution of lending transactions.
- Prepares and delivers client pitch materials and participates in presentations.
- Partners with Investment Banking and product specialists to ensure accurate and comprehensive client information.
- Coordinates pricing, credit concurrence, and internal approvals as client advocate.
- Works with specialists to support successful transaction execution.
Credit, Risk & Portfolio Management
- Directly manages a diverse lending portfolio, ensuring strong credit quality and performance.
- Conducts due diligence, financial analysis, modeling, and credit assessment on new and existing clients.
- Monitors client performance, industry trends, and regulatory changes to identify risks and opportunities.
- Understands transaction complexity and associated risks (credit, market, operational, regulatory).
- Balances client needs with the bank’s risk appetite and evaluates risk‑return trade‑offs.
- Ensures adherence to internal controls, compliance standards, and policy requirements.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Collaborates closely with cross‑functional partners across the bank to deliver seamless client coverage.
- Supports strategic initiatives and contributes to enterprise‑level decisions.
- Integrates data and insights from multiple sources to improve processes and reporting.
- Guides work of junior team members and contributes to continuous improvement efforts.
- Operates as a subject matter expert for senior leaders and internal stakeholders.
- Acts as a change agent to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Minimum 9 years of relevant experience plus a post‑secondary degree; finance, economics, or accounting preferred.
- MBA, CFA, or equivalent advanced credentials strongly preferred.
- Strong background in corporate lending, including business development, investment banking, and structuring financial transactions.
- Sector expertise in Internet & Digital Media or broader Technology industries highly desired.
- Deep understanding of lending, credit, and portfolio management policies.
- Expert knowledge of bank financial products and solutions.
- Strong analytical skills, including financial modeling and use of analytical software/database tools.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; strong influencing and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to manage ambiguity and make data‑driven decisions.
- Seasoned professional with proven industry experience and strategic thinking capability.
