The Sr. Accountant Operating Joint Ventures role is critical function providing accounting, analytical services, and business partner support for the POJV Equity Joint Ventures and Operating Agreements (Channelview Polyols and PO Logistics). Job functions include dealing with external and internal customers on Logistics, Capital, R&D, Technology, Operating, and G&A billings which conform to contractual requirements. Additional responsibilities will include learning the ISCC+ Mass Balance and Sustainable Declaration issuing, record keeping as well as additional items as the ISCC+ business grows. This role also must have the ability to understand complex interdependencies among Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Volume Planning, and Project Management since all the PO Joint Ventures and Operating agreements are intertwined and a change to one could have an impact on another.
A Day In The Life:
- Work closely with Commercial, Legal, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Tax around any Joint Venture contractual needs.
- Assist any financial projects around the various Agreements.
- Support various audits that can take place around the PO Agreements and Polyols Operating Agreements.
- Handle the Logistics annual True-up process for Logistics agreements. This process requires coordinating with various organizations with LYB (Commercial, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Capital Administration, and Legal) so that final information can be collect, reviewed and approved for any adjustments.
- Lead/assist in projects to improve the reporting processes and accuracy. Ensures that the financial information reported, properly captures and reflects business activities.
- Prepare monthly Inventory balancing for all PO locations for the POJV.
- Prepared shipments report at month end to send to Partner.
- Update Terminal splits spreadsheet to show all material transfers.
- Update Life to date Logistics costs.
- Research and prepare Logistics True-up and Estimated billings to Partner.
- Work with supply chain to ensure any additional charges are billed appropriately.
- Monthly analysis of Logistics Billing to determine if any accruals are needed for month end close.
- Depreciation entries for POJV done each month to distribute costs.
- Retirement entries done as needed when assets are removed from service or an asset is retired.
- Work with commercial group to complete the monthly Accommodation Fee calculation.
- Verify By-product credits received by the JV (standard cost vs average sales price). Work with Inventory accountant to better reflect average sales price within the by-product materials.
- Calculate monthly Royalties fees due, make entries and distribute information.
- Updating the ISCC+ Mass Balance, collecting the Factor Loss Calculations from Plant engineers each quarter, obtaining necessary documentation to issue ISCC+ Certificates to the Sales team to provide to their customers, working closely with the C&LC Group as they implement an ERP system.
You Bring This Value:
- Accounting or Finance degree or related business degree with 3-5 year’s relevant financial experience. Professional Certification-preferred.
- Knowledge of both US GAAP and IFRS principles.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of SAP and Business Warehouse.
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications (excel, PowerPoint, word).
- Ability to influence the business and provide insightful finance analysis to senior management.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and effectively manage key stakeholder expectations (both business and finance).
- Ability to respond to numerous (and urgent) requests for financial analysis / explanations from multitude of stakeholders.
- Good team player with strong interpersonal skills, able to build networks, trust, credibility and respect.
- A self-starter able to shape decisions, engage with stakeholders and rally support.
- Sensitive to, and effective at, operating across different organizations and cultures.
- Ability to manage interfaces & build solid relationships within the business.
