Mayo Clinic’s division of plastic surgery is looking for a nurse practitioner or physician assistant to work collaboratively with a team of physicians, fellows/residents, nurses and other allied health staff to provide all aspects of high quality patient care for adult and pediatric plastic surgery patients. The division is internationally renowned for excellence, innovation and performing cutting-edge procedures. Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants are valued members of the care team within plastic surgery and essential to meeting the health needs to those which we provide care. The Plastic Surgery practice has 16 surgeons and 9 NP/PA staff. Regardless of your goals, opportunities exist within the department of surgery for continued, lifelong learning and development.
The NP/PA within plastic surgery is primarily responsible for performing perioperative care. The position includes pre & postoperative assessments, coordination of patient care, and patient management for a variety of plastic surgery indications. The primary subspecialty focus will be craniofacial and breast surgery, to include facial nerve, facial reanimation, head and neck reconstruction, cosmetic surgery, breast reconstruction, reconstructive microsurgery, and general reconstruction for adult & pediatric populations.
Provision of care includes, but is not limited to, comprehensive physical assessment, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the clinic setting. The role is exclusive to outpatient clinic care of patients and procedural care as needed by the practice and delegated by the supervising surgeon. Educating and counseling patients and their families is a core skill in this practice. A high level of autonomy is expected.
Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN license and certification, or eligible to be certified, as a FNP, ACNP or ANP or
Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice.
Registration with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) is required. BLS is required.
