Purpose

The Assistant Director will manage annual giving and gift/pipeline analysis, assist with gift stewardship, execute on internal communications related to giving, and serve as liaison to business office

Responsibilities

  • Annual giving: Develop strategy for and lead 40 for Forty Campaign(s), student giving campaigns, Thanks Day, and any additional related annual giving events. Manage communications for the annual giving program for McCombs. Partner with central Annual Giving team to execute a robust annual giving strategy aimed at elevating participation and engagement; Assist Senior Associate Director of Development Marketing for all direct marketing associated with all annual giving; Direct additional campaigns to increase annual giving on certain key initiatives, including, but not limited to, key cities, scholarships, facilities, etc.
  • Data analysis: Review fundraising data and prepare forecasting and pipeline reports on a regular basis for the development team; Analyze incoming gifts and pledges at the annual giving levels for leads on leadership and major gift prospects; Work with departments to communicate and steward new gifts, gather information on usage and define funding needs. Manage matching and pledge trackers for specific initiatives and special projects, as needed.
  • Communications: Serve as database expert for mailing lists, including, but not limited to, proper activity codes, updating addresses, and providing usable mailing information for the requesting parties. Manage appropriate external acknowledgment of and internal communication of annual gifts. Serve as liaison to McCombs’ Business Office and the Office of the Dean on gift information. Pull reports based on giving and/or mailing needs.

Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in Excel/pivot tables.
  • Proven track record of external client/donor communications and customer service.
  • Experience with data analysis, Customer Relationship Management software, and reporting insights to stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to exercise high levels of discretion and judgement, providing practical solutions in the resolution of complex issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated success in managing relationships with multiple stakeholders and navigating matrixed organizations to accomplish program goals.
  • Demonstrated success in process improvement and project management.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work both independently and as a member of project teams.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Teams, Zoom and/or other remote communication technologies.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of higher education landscape
  • Knowledge of annual giving operations, trends, best practices and an understanding of necessary steps needed to expand donor participation

Salary Range

$60,000 – 65,000 + depending on qualifications
