Job Title: Admissions Ambassador (Part-time/Temporary)

Summary of Position: The Admissions Ambassadors are responsible for representing Indiana Wesleyan University to prospective students and their families during their time on campus, many times being the first impression of IWU. They create a welcoming, accommodating, inclusive, and positive experience by sharing their personal experiences about IWU, helping guests explore campus, and providing prospective students with a picture of how they might belong at IWU.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct tours (there may be 1 to 20 people per tour) for visiting students, families, and special groups, and customize the tour to the unique interests of guests on the tour. This requires the ability to ask good questions, listen to learn the guests’ interests, tell relevant stories, and memorize facts
- Participate in other guest interaction tasks, including: welcoming guests when they come to the Admissions Office; hosting guests in Chapel; eating lunch with guests; assisting guests by taking them to faculty, staff, and class appointments; and simply being mindful of guests on campus—quick to ask them if they need help or to make them feel welcomed in small gestures of kindness
- Assist with campus visit events (Visit Days and Group Visits), including: registration help; speaking in the welcome session; participating on a student panel; leading group tours; running a t-shirt/help table; driving the golf cart; and setting up and tearing down. This may include several Saturdays throughout the school year
- Help with special events such as Admitted Student Weekend, Fusion, and Never2Young
- Help with other tasks such as managing tables/desks in the mallway, commons, or Admissions’ Office; writing postcards to guests; filling out guest interaction logs; making guest folders; and completing various other tasks as needed
- Attend mandatory meetings held once a month as the academic schedule allows and attend one on ones/performance review meetings with the Supervisor
